THE HIGH PAVEMENT SOCIETY (Founded 1989) The Website of the High Pavement Society - for former pupils of High Pavement Grammar School and former students and staff of High Pavement Sixth Form College and Sixth Form Centre.

Internet References

There are very many resources accessible via the Internet that refer, in one way or another, to High Pavement School / Sixth-Form College.     This page provides a List of Hyperlinks to those considered most likely to be of interest to Members of this Society.

These resources can take the form of Videos, Audio or plain Text Pages.   They may refer directly to the School / College or to one of our distinguished Alumni.   A few may have an even more tenuous connection with the School.    For example, there is a link to a 1943 BBC Radio production of the play “The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse” - this has been included because this play was performed as the HP School Play at Stanley Road in 1946 and a few of our members can still remember their lines.

By following appropriate links, it is possible to enjoy video tours of the Chaucer Street Building (still new to many members) or a video tour of the refurbished Stanley Road Building.    It is possible to appreciate the life of our recently deceased member John Bird, via his television obituary, a few editions of his famous TV programmes and even his Desert Island Disc interview with Sue Lawley.  About 18 mins into that 45 min recording, he actually explains how he came to attend HP having failed his 11+ Exam.

It is hoped that members will find these hyperlinks of interest.   For the Video and Audio Resources below, each Hyperlink is preceded by the year the resource was created and the running time in the format (h:mm:ss).    The Society cannot be responsible for the content of these 3rd party resources (which may contain adverts) but hope that members will generally find them of interest.
